About to depart the platfom at Bewdley station on the Severn valley railway, the 1501 is the only surviving example of a GWR 1500 class 0-6-0PT Pannier Tank shunting engine.
Designed by Frederick Hawksworth, it entered service in 1949 at London`s Old Oak Common & was used to haul empty coaching stock in & out of Paddington Station.
It was withdrawn from service in 1961 & sold to the National Coal Board for use at the Coventry Colliery at Keresley before being restored & put into Service by the Severn Valley Railway where it acquired the nickname “the Raging Bull”.
